Roger Kirby passes away at 79

Roger Kirby died on 3/18/19 from pneumonia and pancreatic cancer. Kirby was a excellent technical wrestler who made everyone look good. He was a regular in the NWA Central States territory when I was a kid watching wrestling. I vividly remember him as Central States Champion in 1982 in matches with Harley Race. He held the title on five different occasions.

Kirby was also a former NWA World Junior Heavyweight Champion defeating the legendary Danny Hodge for the title in 1971.

In 1986, Kirby worked for the WWF a times as a prelim/talent enhancement guy before retiring the same year.

Kirby was trained by The Original Sheik and Dick the Bruiser.
