The Mitten: Skye vs. Arquette beams; MPWA on TV; Sheik and Monroe Memorial; CLASH

There was a really good main event last night on the Midwest Pro Wrestling Alliance in Monroe, Michigan with MPWA Champion Zoey Skye vs. Katie Arquette

Arquette is the niece of actor/pro wrestler David Arquette. I think most people forget or don’t know that there is another member of the Arquette family in pro wrestling because David usually gets all of the media buzz. She was managed by longtime Michigan wrestling photographer and heel manager “Handsome” Johnny Bradford.

Skye is a popular babyface in MPWA but she wrestles as her heel alter ego “Dust” in RISE, SHIMMER, and STARDOM.

MPWA will be having TV Tapings in Sterling Heights, Michigan on 6/28/19 at Wyndham Conference Hall. The show will air on MYWD TV-20 in Detroit later this year. Tickets are available here:

Detroit-based XICW will hold a memorial show for The Sheik and Malcolm Monroe Sr. on 6/15/19 in Lincoln Park, Michigan at the Community Center. This will be the first time pro wrestling is at the building in nearly 20 years.

United States Champion (Detroit version) Michael Elgin vs. Kongo Kong.

Heidi Katrina and Willie Watts vs. Queen Aminata and Super Oprah

Lightweight Champion Nolan Edwards vs. Alex Weir

Jeff King vs. Kamala Jr.

More of the card will be announced over the next several days. Tickets are available here:

The LP Community Center has a lot of Detroit wrestling history. The Sheik ran his Big Time Wrestling shows there to build up the major events at Cobo Arena before the company closed in 1980.

Monroe Sr. ran shows under two different banners: Midwest Championship Wrestling and Insane Championship Wrestling. He was a great guy who let me film events and sound bytes for my old TV and radio show so I could always have content. I’ll never forget his kindness and generosity. He gave many people their start in pro wrestling in the Detroit area.

CLASH Wrestling runs in Brownstown, Michigan at the Sports Center on 6/8/19 with Women’s Champion Nevaeh vs. Detroit’s own Allysin Kay, plus Raven will be wrestling against an opponent to be announced.

There will be pro wrestling featured among various area promotions as a fund raiser for the Downriver Council of the Arts in Wyandotte, Michigan on 6/15/19. The event is called “Paint The Canvas”. Tickets are available here:
