SHIMMER announced this evening that their 3/28/20 and 3/29/20 shows in Berwyn, Illinois have been postponed and will be rescheduled for a date yet to be determined.
No word yet on the 4/3/20 SHIMMER event during Wrestlemania Week in Tampa, but I can’t see how that goes on either with the Coronavirus.
RISE announced days ago that their 3/27/20 date, which was also scheduled in Berwyn, is postponed. That show was allegedly supposed to be the company’s last live event due to financial reasons. However, they announced “Pride and Joy 2” which will be co-promoted with Freelance Wrestling on 6/28/20 in Chicago during the Pride festivities in the city.
RISE owner Kevin Harvey announced they will be doing weekly seminars in Berwyn, Illinois at the Eagles Club every Thursday (excluding holidays in December) from 7pm to 9pm CST starting on Dec. 12, 2019.
Zan Phoenix beat Bel Pierce in a dark match before the FITE broadcast.
Elayna Black and Hawlee Cromwell vs. Dust and Ash (with Rosemary)
Raven’s Ash is apparently just Ash now. Veda Scott is calling the action solo.
Cromwell and Black pinned Ash in a really stupid finish after Su Yung sprayed red mist in Ash’s face.
Cromwell and Black are a tag team called “Witch Please” where they’re supposed to be witches like on the Charmed TV show. Ash and Dust dominated the first few minutes and they were going to rush Cromwell and Black in the corner but the witches put up their hands as if they were doing a “freezing spell” and stopped the heels in their tracks.
Rosemary came into the ring and got on the mic. She said it was cute that they were trying to do a spell and asked if they were trying to vanquish her.
Cromwell and Black said it wasn’t a vanquishing spell. It was a summoning spell. Scary music played and out came Su Yung from under ring. She was in her old creepy form and not the new friendly ghost form she appeared in on this week’s episode of Impact Wrestling.
This wasn’t really even a match and just an excuse to do “performance art” theatrics.
Lindsay Snow vs.ThunderKitty
Snow won by neck crank submission.
Mercedes Martinez and Miranda Alize vs. Ashley Vox and Delmi Exo
Today is Vox’s birthday and the fans chanted Happy Birthday at her. She started things off against Alize.
Alize pinned Vox when Martinez shoved Vox into her and she delivered a cutter. It looked like the referee botched the count and didn’t seem to count a full three but he still declared Alize and Martinez the winners.
Martinez and Alize stomped on Team Sea Stars a bit after and sarcastically wished Vox a Happy Birthday.
Candy Lee vs. Jamie Senegal
This was billed as a Divas Match.
Lee got the pin after the Split Ends which is a flying splits leg drop off the top rope.
They got into a “cat fight” at one point and then a slapping fest a little later on.
Allysin Kay vs. Taya Valkyrie in a Savage AF Match
The ring announcer read the rules and said the match can’t end until 3 mystery items are revealed. There is No DQ or Count Out.
Kay revealed the first item out of a trash can which was a bottle of vodka. They both took turns drinking out of it.
Scott explained the rules are also that each item must be used too. (I’m regretting the $15 spent on this show).
They both acted drunk and took wild swings at each other and fell off the apron. Then they both reached under the ring for bottles of water to drink to sober up.
After several minutes of action Kay went for the second item and hit Valkyrie in the face with the trash can lid when Valkyrie tried to stop her. The second item was a pair of Incredible Hulk boxing gloves. Kay used them to punch Valkyrie in comedy fashion.
Valkyrie used a staple gun to staple a picture of herself to Kay’s buttocks.
Kay brought out the third and final item which was an actual machete. She charged at Valkyrie but Valkyrie got out of the way and rolled her up for the pin and the win.
This whole thing was more “performance art” (aka the code word for wanting a free pass to do stupid comedy).
Guardians Of RISE Tag Team Champions Jessicka Havok and Nevaeh vs. Charli Evans and Jessica Troy
Nevaeh pinned Troy after a double team cutter.
Saraya Knight vs. Cassandro El Exotico with Colt Cabana as special guest referee
Cassandro pinned Knight after Cabana forced a kiss on her and Cassandro followed up with a fisherman buster.
Lots of comedy with crotch shots and kissing. After the match Knight bowed to him and shook his hand. Cassandro told the crowd it was 61 years of experience in the ring between him and Knight.
La Escalera Ladder Elimination Match with winner getting a title shot at the Rise Legendary show next year
Priscilla Kelly vs. Hyan vs. Ruby Raze vs. Jake Atlas vs. Jesus Bryce vs. Kylie Rae
Bryce eliminated Hyan first with a roll up for the pin.
Raze back dropped Bryce onto a ladder out of the ring. Raze power bombed Atlas on a ladder on the outside.
Rae used the ladder to sandwich Bryce in the cross face submission to eliminate him.
Atlas, Kelly, and Rae power bombed Raze off the ladder into chairs in the ring for the pin and elimination.
Rae grabbed the contract to win the match by tickling the armpit of Atlas then knocking him off the ladder. Kelly was taken out earlier with a backpack stunner by Atlas when she had him in a sleeper as he was climbing up the ladder.
Confusing rules and bad booking as neither Kelly or Atlas were eliminated. Anyone could try to grab the contract during the match. I think it would have made more sense if only the final two left could compete for the contract after everyone else was eliminated.
Phoenix of Rise Champion Big Swole vs. Laynie Luck
Big Swole got the pin after the Dirty Dancing strike to the face in the best match of the show by far. Swole shook hands in sportsmanship afterwards.
Rosemary vs. Shotzi Blackheart in in a No Holds Barred Match
This is Blackheart’s final RISE event before going to the WWE Performance Center and then eventually NXT.
Blackheart got the pin with a Tiger Suplex.
Dust tried to interfere but got the mist accidentally from Rosemary. Blackheart then gave Rosemary the flying senton in what really should have been the finish but Rosemary got her shoulder up and the match continued for a few more minutes. The fans actually got up to cheer knowing the flying senton is Blackheart’s usual finisher too.
Fans threw several green balls in the ring after and chanted “Thank You, Shotzi”.
Blackheart got on the mic and said she didn’t know what to say and didn’t expect to say anything. She said she started with the company at the first RISE show and learned so much since that one. Owner Kevin Harvey came out and hugged her on the way back to the locker room.
This was a bad show with terrible booking and bad wrestling overall. I was considering dropping RISE from this site’s coverage in 2020 (along with SHIMMER and SHINE) just because there’s too much wrestling to cover from around the world. Watching this show definitely confirmed my decision.

Jake Atlas will take on Tessa Blanchard. Atlas was victorious over Priscilla Kelly on 9/1/19 in Berwyn which you can now see on RISE Ascent for $3 a month. https://www.riseascent.com/
RISE previously announced Cassandro vs. Saraya Knight set for the 11/1/19 event, Phoenix of RISE Champion Big Swole vs. Delilah Doom, and a Ladder Match with Laynie Luck as the first entrant. Tickets for the event are available here: https://risedtwa.ticketleap.com/
Top job to whoever made the poster for the show. It looks like a poster from Jack Hill’s old movies and Double D Rose would fit right in with the Dagger Debs!
RISE owner Kevin Harvey opened the show in the ring with all of the competitors who will be in the tournament. He talked about some of the talent who have moved on to major companies and being a pipeline to those companies.
Lenny Leonard and Allysin Kay are the announcers. Veda Scott is apparently still in Europe.
HawleeCromwellvs.LaynieLuckin a tournament match
Luck got the pin after the UniCutter. Solid back and forth opener to set a nice tone for the show.
Sierra vs. Queen Aminata in a tournament match
Sierra got the with an armbar and extending Aminata’s fingers for the submission. The crowd booed hoping Aminata was going to win.
They announced Cassandro El Exotico vs. Saraya Knight for the 11/1/19 show in Berwyn.
Valentina Loca vs. Max the Impaler
Loca is from New Mexico and she came out in a hazmat suit looking like a Walter White and Jesse Pinkman in “Breaking Bad”.
Max gets the pin after a huge spear. Loca hung in there a lot longer than usual.
ElaynaBlackvs. Sophie King in a tournament match
King got the pin with a choke bomb.
Parrow came out with a menacing look on his face and slowly walked to the ring. Security tried to stop him but he tossed them with ease. He power bombed a female security guard into the ring post.
Parrow got in the ring and gazed at King. She showed no fear and fought him but her strikes had no effect as he just stood still. He grabbed her and power bombed her down to all of the security on the floor.
Effy came out and tried to get in Parrow’s good graces. He said they should team up in their “gayness” and run the place. Parrow looked like he was going to go after him then acted confused and just left the ring in disgust.
Effy brushed the situation off and said he was going to have an LGBTQ Showcase.
Effy vs. Devon Monroe
Effy won by submission with the Dragon Queen Sleeper. After the match Effy asked Monroe to join him as he’s apparently trying to build an LGBTQ heel stable. He changed his mind and batted Monroe around and said he doesn’t hang with losers. (Monroe had another impressive showing here)..
Kikyo came out and made her return to RISE after being out with a leg injury that she suffered in STARDOM over a year ago.
Of course Effy mocked her and said she used to be a big deal in the company but they just cast her aside.
Kikyo slapped him in the face, splashed him in the corner, and gave him a michinoku driver. Effy ran away in shock.
Priscilla Kelly vs. Jake Atlas
Atlas got the pin after a super kick and double arm DDT after Kelly had just kicked out of the LGB-DDT.
They absolutely tore the house down as a lot of people knew they would. Definitely worth the price of $10 alone. Both of them should be signed to a major company because they are both incredibly talented. I know they both have busy schedules around the world but this should have been the main event.
They started off with very quick counters and exchanges in the ring then things moved to the outside. Kelly did a dive through the ropes on Atlas followed by a senton off the ring and a flying body press off the top rope.
Back in the ring Kelly connected with a missile drop kick.
Atlas gave Kelly a release German suplex and followed up with a big knee strike in the corner.
They fought on the ring apron and Kelly gave him the STO on it. Atlas looked like he may have had the wind knocked out of him because there were some pauses in a couple of inside cradle spots after it.
Kelly locked in a grounded submission but Atlas would not give up. He powered out and gave her a DVD type of move to get out of it.
The crowd gave a standing ovation and chanted “PK” after.
Laynie Luck vs. Sierra in a semifinal tournament match
Luck got the pin after the UniCutter off the second rope. Hard fought match and they worked hard but so tough to follow the last match.
Max the Impaler vs. Sophie King
Max got the pin after the spear in about 4 seconds. King didn’t come out at first when she was announced. The ring announcer said she must answer the call or else the match would be forfeited and Max would automatically advance. King limped out to the ring to sell the attack from Parrow earlier.
Guardians of RISE Tag Team Champions Jessicka Havok and Nevaeh vs. Dust, Rosemary, and Raven’s Ash in an Anything Goes Match
Havok and Nevaeh got the pin after putting Rosemary through a tin trash can.
They immediately charged after each other at the start in the entrance way. They brawled all around the building.
Double D Rose Open Challenge
Phoenix of RISE Champion Big Swole came out to answer the challenge. She told D Rose that she would put up the title against her.
Phoenix of RISE Champion Big Swole vs. Double D Rose
Big Swole folded her up for the pin in a good one after first not being able to power D Rose over in a crucifix attempt. Her family came out to congratulate her after the win. Her father looked like her could be a pro wrestler too.
D Rose connected with the hip attack in the corner during the match but the referee refused to count as Big Swole was in the ropes.
Big Swole was in the AEW women’s battle royal last night and many in the AEW crowd knew who she was and they chanted her name.
Max the Impaler vs. Laynie Luck in the tournament final
Luck got the pin after the UniCutter out of the corner to win the tournament.
RISE owner Kevin Harvey came out with a humble speech and told Luck he can’t give her a million dollars as an independent promoter for winning but he can give her the first spot in the ladder match which will take place on the 11/1/19 show.
This was a really quick moving show that got so much in at a two hours and ten minutes running time. It looked like a decent crowd on TV especially with so much going on in the Chicago area this weekend. From what I understand many of the RISE crew and fans will be heading over to the Warrior Wrestling show in Chicago Heights tonight.

“The Summit” collaboration event of SHIMMER, RISE, SMASH Wrestling, and Femmes Fatales from Toronto, Ontario, Canada at The MET on 8/10/19:
This show will be posted up a few hours after it ends on RISE Ascent for $15. Dave Prazak is doing the play by play. https://www.riseascent.com
They did a couple of matches as part of their meet and greet before the main show. Max The Impaler beat Leah Vaughn. Alexia Nicole and Meave O’Farell beat Jody Threat and Mary Lee Rose.
Rosemary defeated KC Spinelli to become the first ever SMASH Wrestling Women’s Champion. Xandra Bale was the guest referee.
Dust vs. Delmi Exo ended up turning into a tag match when Dust jumped Exo. Ashely Vox ran out to help Exo (her sister and regular Tag Team partner) and Veda Scott also got involved.
Ashley Vox and Delmi Exo beat Dust and Veda Scott with the pin on Scott.
Delilah Doom beat Shotzi Blackheart by submission in a #1 con. match for the Phoenix of RISE Title currently held by Zoe Lucas.
Veda Scott has joined Prazak as color commentary on the broadcast.
Aerial Monroe won the Phoenix of RISE Title from Zoe Lucas by blocking the Scorpio Kick and using a sunset flip for the pin.
Lucas refused to hand over the title and tried to leave the building with it but Bull Nakano came out to stop her and hit her with what looked like nunchaku of some sort. Bull got the belt away from Lucas and gave it to Monroe and raised her hand in victory.
Priscilla Kelly won a 4-Way over Cheerleader Melissa, LuFisto, and and Allysin Kay by pinning LuFisto.
Femmes Fatales Champion Mercedes Martinez pinned Jordynne Grace after the fisherman buster on top of the title belt. Martinez taunted Grace for the loss after and then Grace punched her.
SHIMMER Champion Nicole Savoy beat Nicole Matthews by submission. Aerial Monroe came out to celebrate with Savoy after.
RISE owner Kevin Harvey told me several days ago that the RISE “Pride and Joy” event will remain posted on YouTube free for all to see. It’s worth checking out especially for the doors elimination match: https://youtu.be/2To1rzgkFM4
